'One Line A Day' Journalling

Wednesday, June 24, 2015

Every so often I like to dig out my old journals and have a look what the 10 year old Elise was angry about. Keeping diaries is one thing I'm glad my mum persuaded me to do since a young age and I'm so happy I have a stash of memories that was written from my perspective 10+ years ago. I've always been a writer and journalling is my kinda thing, so I bought myself a One Line A Day journal.

The concept of this journal is pretty easy to follow - you write a few sentences about what you're thinking, feeling or doing on that day. Once you've done that for one year, you'll end up where you started and you have a book with a year full of memories. Then on the second year, you move down the page and do the same thing, filling your book with another year of memories. The aim of this is to write one sentence a day for five years until you have a small book compact with almost 2,000 days worth of thoughts.

I've only been doing my journal for about a month or so, but the first year of writing in it is always the worst. You're just writing, writing & writing and you don't have any memories to look back on. Plus it's pretty difficult to remember to actually write in it but I can't wait until I can start to look back through it. The thing I love most about writing this journal at the age I am is because it'll be from the age of 17 to 22 so I'll be able to look back on my driving lessons, parents, birthdays, holidays and even exams!

Do you write a diary? How long have you been writing it for?

Modern Muse

Sunday, June 21, 2015

Let's start this post with a heads up - I'm not good at describing scents but I am so in love with this perfume that I have to share it with you somehow! Modern Muse is one of Estee Lauder's newest scents, as well as one of the most feminine. This perfume alone has reminded me how amazing E.L are when it comes to scents - something I've forgotten in recent years. I've not had this fragrance for long as you can see from the photo above, but in the short time that I've had it I've worn it almost everyday and it's replaced my beloved Baby Powder perfume.

Modern Muse is described as being a 'lush, floral, woody' scent and that's what is noticeable when I spray it. It really is the perfect scent for floral & sweet perfume lovers and is so feminine that it makes me feel confident. A perfume that can change how you feel within yourself is quite a rarity. The scent is also long lasting - something which I was praying came with the high price tag! - and not too overpowering, making it ideal for an everyday scent. The perfume itself comes in a gorgeous bottle and looks stunning on my dressing table. Overall it is a beautiful, feminine fragrance that I'm obsessed with at the minute and although the price tag is a bit extortionate, it's definitely worth the money!

The Budget Kylie Jenner Lip

Friday, June 19, 2015
Ok, I'll admit I'm a bit late to the whole "Kylie Jenner lip liner" party but better late than never, right? I know that we're all over the '90s lip trend but I just needed to put my 2 cents into the pot just incase one of you out there hasn't heard of this little gem. In recent weeks Kylie solved our mysteries and said that she uses MAC Stripdown liner  - since then, nobody has been able to get their hands on it due to it always being sold out. Here's why I'm sharing this now...

Rimmel's lip liner in Addiction is the closest dupe to Stripdown that I've found and the best part is it's only £3.99. It's a natural toned nude lip liner with the perfect formula; it doesn't cling to your lips and dry them out. Unlike most lip liners, you can wear it alone. Instead of getting that horrible sticky feeling that just completely cracks and ruins your lips, it's creamy enough to glide on smoothly with no sticky finishes.

This has been my go-to lip liner for the past few weeks and I'm so happy I managed to conquer the Stripdown dupe search! If you're not a fan of matte lips but still like the colour, a simple nude gloss like Tanya Burr's Lunch Date lip gloss over the top will leave you with gorgeous, pouty lips within a matter of minutes. What more could a girl want?

Blogs Worth Reading #2

Wednesday, June 17, 2015

As I mentioned in my post all about what to do on Sunday, the weekends are for catching up with your favourite blogs. I've been compiling a list of my favourite blogs for the past few weeks in order for me to share them with you... I'm all for sharing the love, after all! I'm sure you've probably heard of all of these blogs but otherwise, happy reading!

A GIRL, OBSESSED  |  Mandy writes one of my all-time favourite blogs and it'd be definitely where I'd point you to if you're a fan of blogs with a wide variety.

DAISY BUTTER  |  I'm pretty certain that unless you've been living under a rock somewhere, you'll have heard of Michelle's blog. It was one of the first lifestyle blogs I read back in the day and to this day, I still love it!

HER LOVELY LIFE  |  A recently new addition to my reading list is Ugne's blog. Everything from the design, photography and writing style is something I've been obsessed with.

NO21  |  Talking of dreamy web design, Grace of design shop Atelier 21 (formerly Berry Vary) is the brains behind my new blog design. She also has her own blog which has plenty of posts for you to lose your weekend in!

THE SUNDAY CHAPTER  |  If you're more of a lifestyle and travel blog kinda person, Angela's blog will be right up your street. She recently visited Paris and made my desire to go even stronger. Her photos are gorgeous!

Revisiting MAC MSF Soft & Gentle

MAC Soft and Gentle Mineralize Skin Finish Review for Pale Skin
If there's one product that I've seen constantly raved about by bloggers that I can't seem to get along with myself, it's definitely MAC's Mineralize Skin Finish in Soft and Gentle. I reviewed it what seems like years ago (read here) I loved it but after a few weeks in the Winter months, we started to form the 'hate' part of a love-hate relationship.

For almost a year this product has been sat in the back of my makeup storage completely untouched, when 2 weeks ago I saw somebody review it and it got me thinking.... Would I still hate it if I tried it now? I've put it to the test over the past few weeks and shock horror, I'm actually enjoying using it! Unlike last year when I used it in Winter with a completely tan-free body, I love the way it looks with a tan.

If you're ridiculously pale like myself and hated this, try it again with a tan. Instead of the golden shimmers in it making you look like you have an orange strip across your cheeks, it actually compliments your tan making you look naturally glowing. It's not overly glittery yet gives just the right amount of highlight.

Have you tried this product? What did you think?
